Saleroom Auctions
First Time Buyers
If you have not bought through Ross's Auctions before please read the following guide. Our Conditions of Sale may be accessed at any point and should be read in conjunction with this short guide.
What is a Live Auction?
A live auction is a traditional saleroom auction which is conducted by one of our experienced auctioneers in our Belfast Salerooms.
Sale Procedure
Lots are offered for sale in numerical order as they appear in your catalogue. We would usually offer for sale approximately 80-120 lots per hour depending on the sale. We recommend that you arrive to an auction in good time as to not risk disappointment. To bid, please raise your paddle clearly and in good time so that the auctioneer can acknowledge your bid. If you are unable to attend the auction it is possible to make a bid in the following ways:
Absentee Bid
If you are unable to attend the auction you may leave an absentee bid. This is an instruction to the auction clerk to bid on your behalf only as much as required for you to remain the highest bidder up until your limit. This means that you may win an item for less than your absentee bid, however you can also be outbid if someone else makes a bid higher than your absentee bid. Please note: Only you will know what your absentee bid is.
Telephone Bid
If you are unable to attend an auction and would like to bid via the telephone this can be arranged prior to the auction. Please contact us on 028 9032 5446 to arrange.
Live Webcam Bid
It is possible to follow the auction and bid via our live webcam platform. Please note that this will incur a 3% charge. To register for live webcam bidding please click here

Ross's are pleased to offer a condition report on any lot upon request. Purchasers must satisfy themselves as to the condition and nature of any lot and if in doubt are advised to view the sale in person.
Buyer's Premium
The buyer shall pay the auctioneer a Buyer's Premium of 22.5% of the auction price. VAT is payable on the commission at the prevailing rate.
