In the blink of an eye, it's already Autumn. Overnight, leaves are shedding their green for more vibrant hues. In the world of auctions, the past couple of months have been a whirlwind of activity, with many interesting lots sold at auction. Ross’s Auctioneers and Valuer’s most recent online jewellery auction, saw the sale of a most unusual and exotic statement piece from the 1940's, Tunisian with a French hallmark. This piece is an 18ct gold fancy link chain with a front-fastening clasp encrusted with oval cut sapphires of intense royal blue colour which sold for £1,100. Finding jewellery at auction is all about discovering exceptional and one-off pieces like this. Pre-owned Rolex watches sold consistently well fetching prices of £1,800 for gent’s and £1,100 for lady’s. Coloured gemstone rings accented with diamonds sold wonderfully also, as did the usual offering of gold and silver bracelets and chains.
Luckily, a bounty of great pre-owned pieces have emerged for Autumn onto the second-hand jewellery market, ripe for the picking. The passage from summer into the cooler, darker months, makes us want to trade in those sunny colours for more sombre, jewel-like shades. For jewellery, the same theory often applies. Yellow gold adds some much needed warmth to darker attire, as do sparkling gemstones in similar rustic hues. Here are a selection of pre-owned items up for offer in jewellery auctions for Autumn. An absolutely remarkable and colourful 18ct gold jewel encrusted oval pendant (Est £12-15,000) completely studded with sapphires, rubies, emeralds, diamonds and a single pearl bead beneath. Such an exceptional piece for anyone who loves opulent jewellery with lots of impact. Up for offer also is a lovely 18ct white gold and diamond studded bangle to add lots of well-priced sparkle to any outfit (Est £3,500-4,500). A stunning and large cushion cut ruby ring accented with diamonds is also available to some lucky bidder. Alongside this selection, there are always lots of lady’s and gent’s wrist watches in great condition, gold and silver pieces and unusual objects like crystal and silver perfume bottles.
Have a bright, bold and colourful Autumn, and add some pizazz to those dark outfits with some special auction finds.
