Benjamin Leader ARA

Benjamin William Leader (1831-1923) was an English landscape painter known for his naturalistic technique. He worked as a draughtsman at his father’s office while taking evening classes at the Worcester School of Design before being admitted to the Royal Academy Schools in London (1854). He felt inspired by nature, especially in his birth town of Worcestershire and exhibited regularly with the Royal Academy, becoming an associate in 1883 and a full member in 1898.

Leader had great success with private buyers and his works are held at Huddersfield Art Gallery, Birmingham Museum and Act Gallery in Worcester, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Gallery in London, among others.
