William Henry Fry

William Henry Fry (1883-1962) was a designer and a painter born in Belfast. He was educated in the Irish Society Schools in Co. Derry and then entered the Government School of Art in Belfast in 1896.
Fry made a living by working for Mather’s, William Adams and Co. Ltd and then J.N Richardson, Sons and Owden Ltd, which was another linen firm in Belfast.
In 1937, Robinson and Cleaver’s in Belfast hosted an exhibition for his landscape and oil paintings. In this same year he threatened to give up landscape painting for portrait and historical work however this was not the case.
