Artist Bio
William Gibbs Mackenzie (1857-1924) was a landscape and portrait artist born in Belfast. He studied at the Government School of Design, gaining a scholarship to study in London under Sir Edward Poynter RA, and at the Académie Julian in Paris.
He exhibited with the Belfast Ramblers Sketching Club and the Royal Hibernian Academy, of which he was elected an associate member. Mackenzie was also an active member of the Belfast Art Society, exhibiting with the Belfast Museum and Art Gallery.
