Theo J. Gracey RUA
Artist Bio
Theo J. Gracey was a landscape painter and illustrator born in Belfast. In 1915, he attended the Belfast School of Art. His first of many commissions was by Thomas McGowan to create an Old Belfast Collection for the Belfast Museum and Art Gallery.
Gracey first exhibited his work at the Belfast Art Society, then from 1924-1951 he showed a total of seventy works at the Royal Hibernian Academy. He later became an academician at the Royal Ulster Academy. Gracey’s preferred medium was watercolour, with his most popular subject being scenes of Antrim and Donegal.
