Sir William Russell Flint RA

Sir William Russell Flint was born in 1880 and grew up to be president of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours, Trustee of the Royal Academy of Art, Senior Royal Academician and a Knight Bachelor.

Prior to becoming a fine watercolourist, Flint worked an apprenticeship for 6 years in the Edinburgh print factory and then as a draftsman, which helped him to produce the skills to become what he is known for today. Over the years, Sir William has received criticism on his choice of landscape however, he did not rise to any of this and continued to do what he did best as before we had photographs, and he was able to produce an accurate picture of the surroundings. Now his works are considered to be one of the greatest of our time.
