Roger Hilton CBE

Roger Hilton was an English painter and from 1929-1931 he was educated in the Slade School of Fine Art. Roger spent three years as a prisoner of war during World War II.

From 1956 onwards, Hilton was known as an abstract painter instead of a figurative painter, however his inspiration remained the natural world.

Having been ill for several months, Hilton returned to depicting subjects, which were more childlike such as animals and boats, which he marked as lifetime experiences.
