Artist Bio

Patrick Robinson Muldowney (b. 1974), is a Northern Irish artist. His painting is inspired by the work of his late grandfather, Markey Robinson and artists such as LS Lowry, Gerard Dillon and John Luke.
Patrick was exposed at an early age to the work of his grandfather and many other artists. He took a series of painting night classes whilst completing BSc science and Msc in computing. He is largely self-taught, absorbing artwork through the exhibitions and galleries across Ireland. He has travelled through all parts of the country and his works are a broad homage to the beauty of the landscape and rural life. The painting is fresh and colourful with a flowing composition that maximises its surface area - such as in his scenes of villages and towns. His clowns follow in Markey’s tradition and add further commentary aspect to the work. He wishes to continue to broaden this perspective as his grandfather did, refining his craft within the family painting tradition and forward into the twenty-first century.
