Artist Bio
Born in Belfast in 1978, Michael Monroe is a self taught artist recognised for his untamed seascape and landscape paintings in bold oil colours. Michael discovered his love of art from a very early age whilst helping out in his familv's Art gallery. This is where he first encountered the works of renowned Irish artists Colin Middleton, Basil Blackshaw and Sean McSweeney, who he takes inspiration from.He painted his first painting at the early age of 6. It won the overall prize in his primary school. It was framed by his teacher and still hangs on her wall to this day. This gave him his inspiration to continue to paint ever since. His paintings hang in private collections around the world. Michael now resides in Jordanstown Co.Antrim where he continues to paint every day.
