May Guinness RHA

May Guinness (1863-1955) was an Irish visual artist who was born in Dublin and exhibited regularly with the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) between 1897 and 1911. After travelling to Cornwall to study with the Newlyn School, a colony of artists (1894), she was educated in Paris (1905-1907) and then again after the war under André Lhote, whose taste for Cubism would come to influence her work.

Along with the RHA, Guinness has had work exhibited at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Water Colour Society of Ireland and has been the subject of several articles including one in ArtDaily.
