John Henry Campbell

John Henry Campbell was an oil and watercolour painter born in 1757 and having completed his education in the Dublin Society’s School, John established himself as a landscape painter in Dublin. Following a number of exhibitions, he contributed works to the Royal Hibernian Academy at its opening in 1826 and then again in 1828.

 

Some of his watercolours include, a ‘view of Dublin, Howth’ in the Kildare Street National Museum, a ‘View near Rostrevor’ in the National Gallery of Ireland and a ‘Bridge over the Dodder, Upper Rathmines’. Campbell’s art are uniquely painted and can be ranked high among the other watercolour painters in Ireland.
