James Le Jeune RHA

James Le Jeune (1910-1983) was born in Canada but moved to Ireland in 1950 where he lived and worked until his death, specialising in painting landscapes, portraits and seascapes. He travelled to Paris in the early 1930s to study art, moving onto London to the Haetherley School of Fine Art and the Byam Shaw School of Art, and then to New York to attend the Art Students League. He also trained as an architect at the London Polytechnic and worked as an architect for some time after serving with the British Army during World War II.

Le Jeune remained passionate about painting however, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), of which he became an associate member in 1963, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Victor Waddington Galleries and with the Society of Marine Artists among others.
