James English RHA

Sir James English spent twenty years of his life using whatever was available to him to draw and paint. Even when he had nothing, he would use the walls or windows to teach himself and so this led to him becoming an experienced painter.

English’s subject matter was his interests. From horses, to travel, to nature around him. His chosen form of painting was in watercolour, whether it was landscape or still life. Sir James’ mood is most definitely portrayed in his artwork whether it is disordered or calm.
