Edward Delaney RHA

Edward Delaney was a sculptor born in County Mayo in 1930 and was educated at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. One of Delaney’s best-known sculptors is the Thomas Davis monument in College Green, Dublin and it is because of this that he is one of Ireland’s notable sculptors. This sculpture is made from a lost-wax bronze casting, which was Edward’s main technique, especially during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Over the years, Delaney’s has been awarded the West German fellowship for sculpture (1956-1957), the Bavarian state Foreign Students Sculpture Prize (1958), the Italian Government Scholarship for sculpture (1959-1960) and the Arts Council of Ireland sculpture prizes (1962-1964).
